I'm Banky. I build software that takes work off people's hands.

Most of my work starts the same way. Someone is doing a job by hand that a computer should be doing. Copying numbers between two systems, rebuilding the same report every month, checking something that only changes once a week. I build the thing that does it instead, and I try to get it down to no clicks at all.

I work as a data scientist at a financial firm in London. I built the pipelines that pull in up to 100,000 securities and refresh them three times a day, the calculations that sit on top of them, and the report generator that replaced work people used to do by hand. Figures the team once waited a month to see now arrive every morning.

The part I care about most isn't getting something working once. It's that it keeps working after I've stopped looking at it. Anyone can build a script that runs today. I'd rather build the thing you can trust on a Monday morning without checking it first.

I studied Engineering Science at Oxford, where I worked on multi-agent reinforcement learning and natural language processing. My final-year project used reinforcement learning to control batteries in household power grids, and I compared it against the mathematically optimal answer to see how close it got. It came close in simple cases and struggled in realistic ones, which taught me more than a clean result would have.

Outside work I've shipped three things. LeWell is a health habit app, live in both app stores. I built a wedding website where guests type their name and see their seat, running off a spreadsheet the client already knew how to edit. And ley-khaa reads a messy conversation and works out the one clear job hiding inside it.
